Temple Emanuel of Tempe, a Reform congregation in Tempe, Arizona, is seeking to hire two part-time teachers. The first is a 3rd-grade teacher for our Tuesday and Wednesday religious school classes. Classes meet virtually over Zoom on Tuesdays from 5:15pm-6:45pm and in-person on Wednesdays from 4:00pm-6:00pm. We are also looking for a 4th-grade teacher in-person on Wednesdays from 4:00pm-6:00pm. We are looking for an engaging teacher who loves teaching Judaism, Israel, and Jewish values to kids. No Hebrew is required for this job. If you have not yet received your degree, but are currently working toward one you are eligible to apply for this position.

JOB EXPECTATIONS
Fulfilling all teaching duties
Following the curriculum.
Planning for lessons and preparing all materials prior to class.
Assisting in the planning and implementation of grade-level Family Education programs.
Meeting with or calling students or parents as necessary before or after class sessions.
Responding to parent phone calls and/or e-mails.
Keeping accurate attendance records and contacting parents when students are absent.
Participating in required professional development activities.
Attending programs that involve their grade levels such as Family Shabbat services, Family Education programs, special activities, and inter-school programs.
Communicating curriculum, class, and school/Temple activities with all parents by email weekly.

QUALIFICATIONS
A love of working with kids!
Passion for Judaism and Jewish education.
Knowledge of Jewish traditions and values, as well as the willingness to learn and grow.
Commitment to teamwork.
Ability to pass a background check.
Dedication to keeping the community safe, including following all safety protocols such as mask-wearing, sanitizing, social distancing, etc.

COMPENSATION
This is a part-time position with a starting salary range of $18-20 per hour, depending on experience. You are also paid for your planning time and any extra duties.
